It's difficult to explain quite what a profound effect Scout Cole has had on me. Until I met him, I was leading a fairly uneventful life. Many might describe it as boring. Sure, I'm a divorcee and no one ever leaves their wife without a considerable amount of drama, but because sex is something which always seemed to get me into trouble, I'd been content to view it as a thing of the past. I'd always wanted to give something back to the community, and becoming a Scout leader seemed like the perfect way to pass on some of the skills and knowledge I had acquired during my lifetime. Scouting was something I took seriously as a boy and, if I'm honest, I wanted to re-discover the sense of wide-eyed innocence and enthusiasm I felt for pretty much everything back in those days.
